Crewe Womens Day Takes Place Saturday 10th March 2018

Women from across Crewe and Nantwich are set to celebrate International Women’s Day with an event of inspirational female speakers.

Organiser Kate Blakemore expects the fourth annual event of its kind, to attract more people than ever before.

International Women’s Day (March 8 2018) is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

The 2018 International Women’s Day theme is ‘Press for Progress’, with Crewe Women’s Day adopting a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) theme, exploring women in STEM.

Motherwell Cheshire are now in their fourth year of organising Crewe Women’s Day, developing into a flagship event for the charity who support Mum’s across Cheshire. This year, they are in partnership with Cheshire Against Abuse and Crewe Town Council in organising the event, which is set to take place on Saturday 10th March at Cheshire College South and West (Crewe Campus).

Kate Blakemore, CEO of Motherwell Cheshire, said: “I’m thrilled that we have managed to put together another excellent line-up of inspirational speakers.

“It’s also a chance for women to become familiar with the female centred services available in the area, to help support with their mental and physical health.

“I’m incredibly proud of the work that the Motherwell team have undertaken in preparation for the event, and the ways in which the speakers and organisations will work in inspiring and motivating people within our area to progress.”

In 2017, Kate won the Health and Wellbeing Award at The Everybody Awards evening, due to the work she has achieved as CEO of Motherwell Cheshire. During this time, Motherwell Cheshire have become a registered charity, in their mission to provide mothers the tools to rehabilitate their lives.

MP for Crewe and Nantwich, Laura Smith, is opening Crewe Women’s Day and Chair of the Cheshire College, Dame Pat Bacon, will close the event.

Attendees can expect a series of active workshops, demonstrations, keynote speakers and exhibitors, with the event split into zones reflecting health and Wellbeing, Arts and Crafts, Kids Zone, STEM Zone, Food Zone and a Beauty Zone.

Motherwell Cheshire are hosting their second Winsford Women’s Day on Saturday 3rd March to be held at Winsford Lifestyle Centre.
