Focus: Lonely This Christmas

Focus Lonely This ChristmasI hope that you all had a great Christmas, I had lots of turkey left and the team at The Cat looked after me well….

What a fabulous month last month was, a really busy one, but extremely rewarding. Our “Focus on The Cat” for December was isolation and loneliness. We wanted to bring the community together and make sure no one felt that they were alone at Christmas.

I cant believe what amazing groups and charities as well as individuals are in Crewe and Nantwich helping to support those in need.

Although many people can be isolated and lonely all through the year it is particularly difficult at
Christmas. So was great for the Cat team and myself to be able to find out what takes place in our local community.

I was really surprised to find out how many great groups run all year for people to join in. There is a great community at Whats Happening on North Street, a great befriending group at St Barnies. Motherwell Cheshire offer  a great wellbeing programme for women and girls in the local area. It was wonderful listening to the National Women’s Register to find out about their groups for women to join and spend time with like minded women.

It was also great to find out about the great charities that were collecting donations and hosting lunches for those in need at Christmas. It certainly made me feel hungry!

As usual I am so proud to be part of such a vibrant and caring community, it makes me want to sleep less and be more active.

All our shows are on our website “listen again” or if you want to find out more about any of the activities we have mentioned please email and we will pass on the details of the organisations.
