This week’s show was packed full of more alternative music for you, packing an oddball punch immediately with Todd Rundgren’s ‘International Feel’ (a major influence on the likes of Tame Impala) before bringing in a glut of tunes from the likes of Parquet Courts, Foxygen, Triptides and a real slow-burning great from The Murlocs.
What else did the show have? Well, it had some Bob Marley, but I counter-acted that safe choice with a dub classic from Upsetters. Yeah, Frankie Valli is there too – but so are The James Hunter Six.
This week’s themed playlist was all centred around the word ‘blue’ (imaginative), but it threw up some corkers from Creedence Clearwater Revival, who I’ve only just got into, some Ultimate Painting, some Who and some Gil-Scott Heron.
Then, as always, I attempted to wind down the good people of Crewe and Nantwich with some Doors, Angel Olsen, Ben Howard…and a new acoustic version of a Bob Dylan song from ‘Blood on the Tracks’. Stripped back to it’s original arrangement, the results are astonishing.
Hope you enjoy it and come back for more next week – cheers!
