In the second part of the 10th anniversary special Legs plays a few more tracks you may not have heard, and there are clips from interviews he’s done over the years, including Jeff Wayne talking about his version of War Of The Worlds.
Two presenters at The Cat 107.9FM are celebrating the 10th anniversaries of their radio shows during November 2019. Peter Shillito and Kev Walker will be celebrating by broadcasting special editions of their shows.
Peter Shillito, who presents Japanese anime music show Neko Desu (Japanese for “The Cat”), will be presenting the anniversary show on 16th November from the show’s usual start time of 9pm right through to 6am in the morning!
Peter will also be taking part in a yearly charity fundraiser by playing non-stop video games with group of friends for at least 24 hours, with no sleep. They have previously raised over £2,500 for charities including Special Effect and Cancer Research UK, and this year are supporting the Samaritans. If you wish to help support Peter and the Samaritans please visit http://vscary.co/charity.
Kev Walker, whose anniversary show is the week before, said “I’ve always thought that the Crewe & Nantwich area was big enough to have its own radio station and I joined The Cat when I heard that it was looking for volunteers. On November 9th, 2009, I presented my first ever show and ten years later I am still here, enjoying every second of it. Over the last decade I have seen the station grow to become a vital part of the community and have had the pleasure of interviewing some incredible people, including artists I was listening to in my youth.”
To mark this achievement, Kev will be presenting two special editions of his Recollections & Revelations show, on 6th and 13th of November at 6pm, to include tunes some listeners may not have heard before, and interview clips from the days before The Cat became an FM station.
Managing Director of The Cat, Chris Cadman, said “These are two very different shows, but equally important to us here at The Cat in bringing a diversity of musical styles and tastes to our listeners. Both Kev and Peter are volunteers and have been broadcasting their shows for 10 years which shows the passion they have for their music. We wish them a happy 10th anniversary and hope for many more”
In the first of two shows celebrating the 10th anniversary of the show, Legs looks back at some of the tunes he’s played, and there are clips from some of the interviews that were only broadcast in our internet days.
Legs returns to the studio after a week away and, although he was suffering with the symptoms of a slight cold, he still managed to bring a great selection of blues from across the decades. What a trouper!
No interview in this week’s edition of the show. Instead, Legs brings you tracks from some of the recent releases that may have slipped under your radar, plus there’s the Analogue Blues track, taking us back to the early days of recording.
In this week’s show Legs chats with guitarist/singer/songwriter Gary Nicholson. He talks about his latest releases – The Great Divide (as Gary Nicholson) and More Days Like This (as Whitey Johnson), plus the people he’s worked with over the years.
This week’s show features the usual great mix of blues from across the decades, plus a chat with harmonica wizard Billy Branch. He talks about his career, his collaborations, and his latest release “Roots And Branches – The Music Of Little Walter”
This week, there’s the usual great mix of blues old and new, plus an interview with the legendary Bob Margolin. He played guitar with Muddy Waters for a number of years, and has since performed with countless people, and developed a successful solo career.
In the first of a two part special, Legs plays clips from an interview with Bruce Iglauer, the founder of the biggest blues record label in the world, Alligator Records. All the music featured comes from Alligator releases.
