The Cat 107.9 FM is a locally focused community radio station broadcasting on 107.9 FM, online, smart speakers and via smartphones. The Public File contains details of the commitment we have made Crewe and Nantwich with its own FM radio station.
At The Cat we recognize the importance of a comprehensive and up to date local news service and provide bulletins of both national and international news as well as locally produced news 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Community interest programming is provided by Community Action every hour and you will also hear national sport and local traffic updates at certain times each weekday.

There may be occasions when we have to prerecord shows but we aim to provide as many live shows as possible.
We invest a lot of time and effort into training our volunteers to a high standard, and endeavor to do our best to ensure that you enjoy the programmes and features that are broadcast on The Cat.

The Music We Play

The Cat 107.9FM plays a wide variety of music, from the 1950s to today. It is the station’s aim to provide an eclectic mix of music, including Pop, Rock, Chart, Dance, Northern Soul and much more. Our evening output is dedicated to specialist music and we welcome contact from local bands.

The “Not for Profit” Company
The Cat is the trading name The Cat Community Radio CIC. All our volunteers are unpaid.
The Cat 107.9 FM is situated at the heart of the community, aiming to giving a voice to local residents through the provision of a first class community radio station. We are committed to working in partnership with volunteers and members of the local community to produce high quality programming that fosters the spirit, essence and interests of the local area.
The Cat operates on a not for profit basis and is currently funded by sponsors, advertisers, grants, public donations and volunteer fees. We are committed to promoting the interests of the local community and broadcast live from our studios in Crewe 24 hours a day.
The Cat aims to be a vehicle for discussing local issues and helping to promote both established and up and coming local artists. As a community radio station local people are encouraged to take part, developing new skills through comprehensive radio training and workshops offered in-house. We are also committed to supporting individuals undertaking professional training within the radio broadcasting industry, providing valuable work experience for schools and vocational training opportunities for college and university students.
