Nantwich Town Ladies FC play their league matches in the Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League, Premier, whilst Chester FC Women play in a higher tier in the North West Women’s Regional League, so it was always going to be a difficult fixture for the Dabbers.
A representative from Nantwich Town Ladies FC said: “Chester play at a higher level than us so it was always going to be tough. We started the game strong and held our own for 32 mins. Chester managed to find a gap and although Townsend got a touch to it, it managed to find the bottom corner.
“Nantwich battled on but shortly after Chester found their second. After a couple of Nantwich chances, the half finished 0-2. Nantwich went in at half time positive and optimistic about the scoreline. The Dabbers continued their game and started the second half strong. On the 48 min mark a long range strike from the Chester CM managed to find the net.
“Nantwich never gave up and after some fantastic defending, some chances on goal and some great play, unfortunately Chester added to their scoreline with an own goal from Nantwich. Nantwich battled until the end and unfortunately came away with a 0-4 defeat. Both management and players came off the pitch proud and felt they held their own against a much higher placed Chester side. Thank you to all of the dabbers supporters today.”
