UPDATES FROM 14/03/2020

The Queen’s visit to Cheshire in the coming days has been postponed as the coronavirus pandemic spreads rapidly through the population. Her Majesty had been due to visit Bentley Motors Factory in Crewe and the Jodrell Bank radio telescope near Macclesfield on Thursday. Her Majesty was due to have arrived at Crewe Railway Station on the Royal Train where she would have been greeted by the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire and received a posy outside the station.

GP surgeries in Crewe based at the Eagle Bridge medical centre have placed restrictions on face to face appointments in favour of telephone consultations. Patients have been contacted to be told if they have an appointment booked, not to come into the surgery but to telephone instead.

The South Cheshire Pensioners Association says it has reluctantly called off their meeting scheduled for March 31 at Crewe Lifestyle Centre – because of the specific threat posed to older people by COVID-19 and the likelihood that it will spread rapidly over the next 10 days.
