The inaugural ‘The Marina Market’ took place on Sunday 12th September 2021 (10am-4pm) at Nantwich Marina & Canal Centre on Chester Road in Nantwich.
The market featured a range of artisan styles and arts, along with general traders, and will take place on a fortnightly basis.
Stall holders were Fiona’s Fairy Doors, Baked by Gill, Drink or draw, P.K. Hats, Anna’s Art, K.A.R Timber, Fiona Williams artist, The Langdale Bakehouse, Dipti Tropic Skincare, and Nantwich Words and Music Festival.
Singer-songwriter & guitar player, Henry Myles, entertained visitors and stall holders.
There was free car parking and the adjacent Waterside Café Nantwich was popular with attendees.
The market was organised by Harvey, who is the son of local artist Tony Denton. Harvey also runs ‘The Marina Gallery’ gallery-shop, a single storey wooden building which recently opened at Nantwich Canal Centre, to sell Tony’s original hand painted artwork.
Tony is well known in Nantwich and in recent months he has generously donated a ‘Support the NHS’ canvas painting he produced which was auctioned for Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, donated paintings of Captain Sir Tom Moore on slate and on wood to the town (both temporarily on display in the Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge) and donated his painting of the Nantwich Town Football Club crest being painted to the Club.
Harvey, The Marina Market event organiser, said: “We are hopefully going to breathe new life into this little gem of a marina hopefully with the support from the people of Nantwich and beyond.”
Future dates for ‘The Marina Market’ (10am-4pm) are Sunday 26th September and Sunday 10th October 2021.
