Crewe and Nantwich MP, Kieran Mullan, put his best forehand forward as he joined Wistaston Bowling Club for their recent Family Fun Day.
The friendly community club, based next to Wistaston Memorial Hall, threw open its doors to local people, in a bid to introduce them to the joys of Crown Green Bowling as they work at expanding their membership as we come out of lockdown. Kieran was joined on his visit by Wistaston Ward Councillor Margaret Simon who is also a member of the club.
Crown Bowls is generally played by 2 or more people on an uneven green with a raised centre known as ‘The Crown’.
Kieran said: “Bowling has a reputation of being a sport for older people, but my time at the Club proves that this is not the case. People of all ages enjoyed trying their hands at ‘rolling the jack’ and immersing themselves in the world of Crown Green Bowling. Neil and Beryl who run the Club are very knowledgeable about the sport and made it fun and easy to learn!”
Wistaston Bowling Club are keen for locals to join them, so if you are looking for something new to try this summer, then please drop Neil Smith an email at email@example.com or call him on 01270 214 533 and he would be happy to arrange a special free session.
