Article: Gary Johnson
Earlier this year the Community Champion at Morrisons on Station Road in Nantwich pulled together a small team that she believed could assist her in getting the message out into the community about what Morrisons were doing to help those in need during the pandemic and beyond.
The team consists of Nikki Allen and Steph Lynch from Morrisons Nantwich; Councillor Pam Kirkham, Mayor of Nantwich and Nantwich Town Council; Councillor Peter Groves, Nantwich South & Stapeley Ward, Cheshire East Council; Deb Lindop, Community Development Officer, Cheshire East Council; and Gary Johnson, Breakfast Show presenter on local community radio station The Cat 107.9FM.
Many topics were discussed, and initiatives are in place to support the local Foodbanks, the elderly in care homes, the NHS and Care workers and youth groups to name but a few.
Also, during the meeting, the issue of dog fouling came up, and the question was asked how to put out a strong message asking owners to clean up after their dogs, without it appearing dictatorial and patronising.
Gary Johnson’s idea was based on the ‘Charlie Says’ short, animated cartoon public information films, to create a short animated public information video narrated by a local child to distribute among social and local media platforms.
Gary Johnson wrote the script for the video, which was read by local Pear Tree pupil Lacey Marsh (age10) and animated by Peter Ewan of Heelheadover Productions, a full service video production company based in Nantwich, Cheshire.
My Dog Needs The Loo! public information video
A representative from Morrisons Nantwich, said: “It’s a great video and a really important message put together in a really fun way. I’m sure the community will really get behind the message.”
Gary Johnson, The Cat 107.9FM, said: “We hope that the message is received in the way that it is meant.
“We know that the majority of dog owners are very responsible and clear up after their pets however, occasionally we do forget, and the video and local pupil Lacey’s message was a gentle reminder.”
Peter Ewan, Director, Heelheadover Productions, said: “I was pleased to be able to work with Gary Johnson and Lacey Marsh creating the animation for ‘My Dog Needs the Loo’. It’s an important topic and hopefully we have managed to communicate the message in a fun, entertaining and informative way.”
