Nantwich Running Club members dressed up once again in festive costumes for a ‘Crewe Christmas Lights Run’ on Wednesday 22nd December 2021, having previously donned their outfits earlier in the same month for a ‘Mince Pie Run’.
The runners route took them to the streets of Crewe and Wistaston to admire the numerous dazzling Christmas lights and decorations, and the occasional inflatable decoration and light show, that residents have setup.
There were several fabulous costumes on display including Christmas Fairies, Elves and Santa hats aplenty.
If required, hi-vis kit was worn over the costumes and headlights were used to ensure safety in the dark.
Nantwich Running Club was launched in March 2021 by Willaston runner Mike Stevens and now has nearly 350 members.
The club meets at Nantwich Town Football Club and members train in small groups of 10 people for up to 60 minutes every Monday and Wednesday evening at 6.30pm.
There are 10 chatty pace groups, each supported by a Run Leader, who follows an organised route ranging in distance from three to seven miles each session.
The club offers people new to running in groups the opportunity to join two free taster sessions before deciding to join.
An exciting initiative for the club in the New Year is the launch of a “Couch To 5K” programme on Saturday 8th January 2022 and the following eight Saturdays. The programme takes people who have little or no running experience through a series of 30 minute walking and jogging sessions designed to improve personal fitness and general health & wellbeing. For more details please visit Nantwich Running Club Couch To 5K.
Mike Stevens, Founder of Nantwich Running Club, said: “Despite the wet and cold conditions nearly 60 members turned out for the final festive fun run of the year. We are all now looking forward to some great training sessions in 2022.”
