New Volunteer Opportunities at The Cat

It’s exciting times for The Cat, the only licensed community radio station in Crewe and Nantwich, that broadcasts from studios in Crewe and run entirely by volunteers.  The station continues to move forward and expand its offering to the community

Chris Cadman, Managing Director, The Cat

The Cat has recently:

  • launched a brand-new sister radio station, Cat Xtra, to serve as a home for new music, and as a platform for those wanting to get into radio to showcase and develop their talent,
  • been announced as a media partner at Nantwich Town FC, and
  • jointly set up South Cheshire DAB Ltd, a ‘non-for profit’ company, to bring small scale DAB (digital radio) to Crewe, Nantwich, and surrounding areas.

This has created opportunities for more enthusiastic volunteers to join The Cat, in a variety of roles on both sides of the microphone, including on air presenters, music library administrators, show producers, presenters and technicians for roadshow events, and social media managers.

If any of these sound like you, then your local radio station, The Cat 107.9FM, would love to hear from you, send us an email to

It’s a great way to learn new skills, develop confidence and meet new friends, whether it’s an hour a week or 4 hours a day, the biggest requirement from all new members is commitment. If you’re successful and offered a role, The Cat will invest time and money in your training.

Chris Cadman, Managing Director of The Cat said, “As a truly local radio station our aim is to engage with the community and offer the opportunity for people of all ages to learn more about radio, get involved in community projects and maybe take that first step into the world of broadcasting ”
