The CAT Recognises Young Nantwich Legend Orlah

Local radio station, The Cat 107.9FM, have recently presented their sixth Local Legend monthly award, which follows on from the weekly Community Hero Award that the radio station ran earlier in the Covid-19 pandemic.

Orlah Maudsley is pictured with her mum Heidi after being presented with her Local Legend award by presenter Dave Foulkes.

The Local Legend award for April was presented to one of their youngest recipients, 4-year-old Orlah Maudsley from Barbridge. Orlah walked an amazing 26 miles for the Stroke Association.

After surviving a stroke at birth that left her unable to use the left side of her body, she now struggles to walk and does not have full movement in her left hand, however she was determined to complete a ‘virtual three peaks challenge’ after being inspired by Sir Captain Tom.

Orlah received her Baked by Gill Cat Cake, Cat goodies and a Local Legend certificate from Cat 107.9FM presenter David Foulkes and sponsor Gill Clark of ‘Baked by Gill’.

Chris Cadman, Managing Director of The Cat said, “It is an absolute delight to recognise such a driven young lady and at the tender age of 4 years old.  Orlah’s efforts and determination should be an inspiration to all of us to reach for higher goals – Well Done Orlah it’s a real pleasure to recognise you as this month’s Local Legend”.

You can listen to Orlah on the Breakfast Show here.

The Local Legend Award looks to recognise the work of local individuals and organisations who have gone that extra mile in support of their communities and is sponsored by ‘Baked by Gill’ with winners being drawn out of a hat to receive a wonderful cake, Cat 107.9FM goodies and a certificate.

If you know someone who has gone the extra mile and deserves recognition, send your nomination with full details to studio@thisisthecat.com.
